Courses in MIC



Manipal Institue of Communication (MIC) is a private constituent institution of the ManipalAcademy of Higher Education that specialises in Media Communication and Animation. It was established in 1997 by India's renowned journalist MV Kamath. And since its inception, MIC has been recognised as one of the top Media and Communication colleges in India, it was ranked 3rd in the Private Media and Communication colleges in India by Outlook. MIC offers around ten courses ranging from Bachelors to Masters to Diplomas. So here is a list of courses offered by MIC.


(1) BA (Honours) Media and Communication

BA(Honours) Media and Communication is a one-of-a-kind four-year course in MIC. By the end of the course, you will have a good understanding of the Media Industry and enough knowledge to take on challenges to become a media expert. This course teaches you about many different media and communication branches, ranging from Journalism to Public Relations to Graphics.

(2) BSc Animation

BSc in Animation is a three-year course offered by MIC. This course is designed with both traditional and digital skills kept in mind. In your final year of the course, you would have to choose a specialisation from Preproduction, Comic Art & Design, Graphic Design,3D Modeling,3D Texturing,3D Lighting & Rendering,3D Character Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Compositing. Many of the alums went on to work in Hollywood movies too.

(3) BVoc Graphics and Designer

BVoc in Graphics and Digital Media is a three-year undergraduate course. The course covers areas ranging from social Communication to digital Communication and branding. The job prospects after completing this course range from Graphic designers, Social Media Executives, and Social Media managers to Digital Marketing Managers.

(4) MA Media and Communication

MA Media and Communication (MAMC) is known as the flagship program of MIC. This two-year program trains students to master the skills to become media experts and for students who want to do further research on media and Communication. You can specialise in Print Journalism, TV and Radio production, Corporate Communications Management, Digital News and Entertainment content Production and Media Research.

(5) MA in Film Arts

MA in Film Art is a two-year dual degree program offered on filmmaking. This program is jointly offered by the Manipal School of Communication MAHE and The International Film and Television School, Paris (EICAR). So the first year you would spend in MIC and the second year would be spent in EICAR.

(6) Certificate Courses

MIC even offers a few certificate courses on subjects like Animation Technology and Sports Communication. These courses are six months long and perfect for people who are already part of the industry but want to do a certificate course.

(7) PG Diplomas

MIC even offers a ton of diplomas ranging from Health Communication and Sports Communication to Cooperate Communication. These courses are year-long who have changed their career or are about to start their professional careers and want to do a short course.

 

So MIC offers a lot of courses regarding Media and Communication. And the syllabus of these courses moves along with time. The college has other facilities like a Mac Lab, Radio Studio and TV Production studio.
